3 Years Of hiyaitsashley

Hooray, hiyaitsashley is 3 years old! I'm a couple of weeks late with this post, but back on the 25th of September 2017, my blog has been up and running for 3 whole years. It really doesn't seem like that long at all, the time has flown by. Since I've hit this little birthday recently, I though now was a good time to look back on the last three years of hiyaitsashley, and see how far its come, and where I want it to go.

I done a post along these lines back in June of 2016, which you can read here. This post was talking about how much my blog had grown over time, and how much I had grown with it. I also showcased some of my favorite posts, and some goals for the rest of the year. Looking back on that post, its one of my favourites I've done, I like acknowledging little milestones in my blog's journey, as it is something I'm passionate about. As for my goals, I achieved all of them! I wanted to reach 40, 000 page, well I am currently at 60,350, so check. I wanted to reach 500 followers on Bloglovin', and I'm currently at 555, so check. I wanted to keep creating content I love and meet more bloggers, which I have definitely done, so check and check. Lastly, I wanted to grow the foodie portion of my blog as this is a section I was really enjoying, and I have definitely done that, so check.

Looking Back

Looking back at my blog since 2014, I am really proud of how far it has come. One thing I have noticed is how much better my content has gotten. I started off blogging without much knowledge of what I wanted my blog to be about. I knew I was going to do posts about make up, and I knew I liked writing just about things that were interesting to me, but I didn't really have a genre yet. Looking back at my old posts, I can definitely see when I started to take my blog seriously, and a theme emerged. I started posting more consistently, mostly about beauty and lifestyle, so I knew what my niche was and started writing to that, and once I found my footing it was only up from there. I've noticed that my photography and editing has stylishly improved over the last three years, which I am very proud of as I think photos are am important part of any blog, along with engaging content, good photographs can really draw people into your content, and I feel like over the last year especially, my photographs have improved greatly. I've also gotten to meet a lot of other bloggers which has been amazing, it's always good to meet like minded people who share similar interests as you.

I put a lot more time and effort into my blog around late 2015, early 2016, and since then it's been one of my favourite things to do. I was posting much more regularly, and it was content I was really passionate about and enjoying creating. Once I started really taking it serious was when my hard work started to pay off. I've bee so lucky to have worked with some amazing PRs in my time, like the wonderful Suzanne over at Hummingbird, who has given me some incredible opportunities for my blog, which I will always be grateful for, she doesn't just treat me like a blogger, she treats me like  friend and that always makes me smile. The lovely team from The BIG Partnership also deserve a shoutout, they've been amazing to work with over the last few years, and are such lovely, kind people.

I've been lucky enough to work with some amazing brands over my time as a blogger, and I am grateful for every one of them. I've worked with amazing brands like NYX, The Body Shop, Tony Macaroni, Vue Cinemas, Go Ape, Wagamama, Glasgow Fort, KIKO, The Counter, St Enoch's Centre, ClueHQ, LaserQuest and more, and I am so grateful to have been given the opportunity to work wit them, as they are some of my favourite brands and companies. Getting to work with brands like these always makes me feel proud of my blog, and makes me want to keep working hard on the content I create.

Like I did with my previous post, I want to showcase some of my favourite content that I've posted on hiyaitsashley:

Food
Lifestyle

Going Forward

Looking ahead with my blog, I want to keep up with posting content that I truly love to write, as I think that is a big part of how my blog has developed over the years. I feel like when I writing content that I really am enjoying and excited to post, I feel so much motivated to keep at it, and to work hard. I would also really like to keep up consistency with my blog, as I feel like keeping on top of my blog helps me keep on motivated on days where I am being lazy, I can get up and throw myself into a blog post to curb the boredom.

With the types of content that I post, I think I have finally found a place where I am comfortable with the genre I fit into. I like to post about beauty, lifestyle, and food, so that's where I am going to focus my energy. For the beauty portion of my blog, like I said in the last post like this I did, I would like to start doing tutorials from time to time. I feel like my skills with make up have improved quite a lot over the last year or so, so I would really like to showcase more of that on here. I would love to start posting recipe posts for my food section, as right now it is mostly reviews of new places to eat, which I love doing, but I also love cooking and baking, so I would really love to incorporate some more of that into my blog.

I would love for my blog to keep growing, so I'm going to keep working on making content and promoting my blog. I'm patient, as I know it can take a long time to build up a following, but I don't mind that. I love my little blog, and I would love it the same with 100, or 1,000 followers, but I would still like to see it growing over time. I'm also keen to meet more bloggers if the opportunity comes up again in the future, and I would love to continue working with brands and companies I love.

I thought that since my goals in the last post worked out, I would put in a few goals for my blog in this one too:

  • Short term; reach 600 followers on Bloglovin', long term: 1,000 (if you want to help me out with this goal, you can find my blog here)
  • Reach 70,000 page views
  • Start posting beauty tutorials from time to time
  • Make better use of my blog's social medias (mostly Facebook and IG)
  • Meet more bloggers
  • Be consistent with a blogging schedule, by trying to post at least twice a week

As always, I don't know what the future is going to have in store for me, or hiyaitsashley, but what I do know is that I love my blog, a lot, so we won't be going any where any time soon.

How long have you been blogging for? Do you have any short or long term goals? What piece of content on your blog are you most proud of?
