A Few Things To Remember About Blogging

Blogging has become a huge part of life over the last couple of years, and it has really become one of the things I am very passionate about in life. I love having my own little piece of the internet to share my content on and to be myself. There are a few things that I think it is good to know as a blogger, and that can be good to remember as you go on in blogging.

There is no set way to blog. This is a point that I hope every blogger knows, because it is what makes your blog yours. Blogging is a very popular thing to do, but that doesn't mean there is an set way it has to be done. Blogging is a very individual thing, and what makes your blog unique is that it is yours and you blog, you don't have to fit a mould to be a blogger.

Your blog is yours. Your blog is your own little slice of the internet, where you can do with it what you like. There are so many bloggers out there these days, that it can be really easy to fall into a trap of just doing posts 'because this is what's popular' in the blogosphere. People read your blog because the like you, and they like your content, so trust your gut with it. You don't have to copy what other posts are popular so you can gain readers, there will always be someone who likes your posts!

Blogging is a marathon, not a sprint. Please remember this! Building a blog and getting recognition for your work, and building your blog as a brand takes time. It takes a lot of time and effort to start getting credibility and a following for your blog, it doesn't happen overnight. Every blog is different, for some it will take weeks to start gaining ok lowers and readers and for others it can take months. Some blogs are approached by brands and PR companies after a few weeks of blogging, and some aren't approached for months. Don't be disheartened if you aren't hugely popular right away, it takes time.

Blogging is about quality and not quantity. As a blogger, it's natural to want to have followers for you blog and to want your content to do well and your following to grow in numbers, however there are just that, a number. Followers are important and bloggers are really appreciative of anyone who follows them, but as a blogger it is good to remember that you should always focus on the quality of your blog and having a high standard of work. Whether you have 10 followers or 100, if you keep your blog standards to a high quality, then your blog always looks good your followers can continue to grow.

Post about what you love, and show your personality. Bloggers love authenticity, and can tell when a fellow blogger is being themselves and being genuine and when they are phoning it in to fit a niche or to be popular. If you are posting about what you love, and being yourself in your content then you will do much better than if you are sticking to a niche you have no passion for. No blogger has to stick to one niche, and it is great to show variation in your work. Blogging should be fun and you should always post content that you love and engage with, because other people will love and engage with it to if they can see the person behind the blog.
