What I Got For Christmas 2017

Happy New Year! I'm a few days late with it, but happy new year to anyone reading this post. For my first post of 2018 here on hiyaitsashley, I want to share with you what I got for Christmas in 2017. I love Christmas, and I love giving people gifts, and this Christmas I got wonderful gifts, so I thought I would share them with you.
I love watching and reading what I got for Christmas videos every year, so this year I wanted to share what I got on my blog. A quick disclaimer here that we see in these videos, I'm not trying to brag about what I got, I'm just incredibly grateful for all the amazing items I got, and want to show that appreciation for my family and friends with a post all about their amazing gifts.

A lot of the gifts I received year were centred around make up and beauty items, in case you can't tell from my blog, I love beauty. The first gifts I opened this year were from my cousin and best friend Robyn, since we swapped gifts the week before Christmas. She always gives amazing gifts, and this year was no exception. In her gift were two make up items, the Too Faced Sweet Peach Glow palette and Kat Von D Shade and Light Eye Contour Quad in Rust, both of which she knows I have been dying over for ages, so those were amazing to get, she knows Kat Von D is up there at my top spot for eyeshadows so A++. As if that wasn't enough (it 100% was, she is crazy, and the best), kept with the beauty theme, and also got me The Body Shop Frosted Plum Treat Box, and the Magnitone Barefaced, which I was so happy with, she knows I love the Body Shop, its my go to for skincare, and that I've been wanting a new Magnitone for the longest time.

It doesn't stop there, the last two things in my gift (there were sweets too but this did not last long, at all. I love candy), were two things that made me really smile, and shows how well she knows me. A book of conspiracy theories, and a stress ball shaped like a pug. I am a huge conspiracy theory nerd, and I had complained to her multiple times last year that I couldn't find any books on conspiracy theories, so that made me smile for sure. The pug stress ball is because she knows I absolutely adore pugs and will collect anything pug themed, plus, its fun to squish! I love everything she got me, and am truly grateful for it all, she's awesome.

Next up I'll go through what my family got me. My youngest sister got me a huge box of Malteasers, which are already gone, I love Malteasers so much. My other sister (she's featured on here before in this post), got me the limited-edition artful accessories brush set, which is an absolutely stunning set of make up brushes from Tarte, which I was so grateful for because they are stunning and I was in desperate need of new brushes. She also got me sweets, because I have the world largest sweet tooth.

This year I got some amazing gifts from my parents, and I'm so pleased with every single one. This year I tried to be practical with what I asked for, and asked for some things I actually needed, and knew I would get use out of, and probably wouldn't buy myself. The first thing I asked for which I am beyond happy to have got, was a new Xbox 1 controller. I 100% needed this, because I've had my Xbox for a little while now and I use it almost every single day, and the left stick was completely broken, if I sat the pad down, it would still keep moving or scrolling, meaning I couldn't really play games, or even watch Netflix because it kept changing things, so I'm so happy to have gotten a new one, plus, it's sky blue. Keeping with the gaming theme, I also asked for two new games as I've just been replaying my others one lately, so I got the new Assassin's Creed Origins (I love the AC games, and this one is set in Egypt, I love anything to do with Ancient Egypt), and Sonic Forces, (I used to love the Sonic games so this one is so nostalgic. And you create your own sonic type character, sold.)

Back to make up, this year I got two make up items, both of which were gift set type items. I got the Tarte Magic Star Collector's Set, and I am beyond thrilled that I did. Tarte is a brand that I have been dying to try out for so, so long now, but it's not a brand we can get easily here in the UK, so I was so beyond giddy to to get not one, but two Tarte items. This collectors set is from the Holiday 2017 collection, and I'm so happy to have it. In the set are 25 eye shadows (which I've already tried some out, and they are freaking incredible, like holy cow), 2 blushes, 1 highlighter, 1 bronzer, and deluxe sample sizes of their Tarteist Lash Paint Mascara, Sex Kitten Eyeliner, Tarteist Quick Dry Matte Lip Paint in Castle and Glossy Lip Paint in Myth. The second make up item I got was the Kat Von D Everlasting Mini Liquid Lip Set, which comes with 8 shades of her liquid lipsticks in miniature size. I really wanted this set as I was dying to try out her liquid lipsticks, as liquid lips are my  favourite type of of lipstick, and I've heard good reviews of her formula. Her shades are also stunning, even the more bold ones, and I've found that I never really use an entire lipstick, liquid or not, so getting the miniature set of 8 was a great change to try out some of the sades. I wore one on New Years Day paired with one of her lip liners, and I love the way it looked and felt. I even tried out the black shade and kind of fell in love with how it looked, and how pigmented and long lasting it was for a black.

For Christmas this year I also got a new pair of Vans slip ons in a beautiful blue shade, as I wear my black ones constantly, they are so comfy. The last two presents I got this year from my parents were two prosecco gift sets, as I love proessco. The first is called 'Be With You In A Prosecco' (love the pun), and contains and adorable prosseco flute, a small bottle of Canti prosecco, and a prosecco scented bath foam. The other is called 'Perfect Prosseco' and contains three miniature bottles of Monin flavoured syrups, and a box of strawberry flavoured popping bubbles, and a bubble straw. This one is quite cool, and is intended to mix the syrups into your prosseco, and add a spoonful of popping balls for extra flavour. (Think of bubble tea, but with prosecco!)

I'm so beyond grateful for all of my gifts this year, and I truly do love everything that I got, and can't wait to use everything, (although I've used most of it already!)

Up next are the gifts that I got from both sets of my grandparents. From one set of my grandparents, I got an incredibly handy Real Techniques Limited Edition Strobe And Glow Set, which had two double ended face brushes, a complexion sponge (I can ever have enough of these, they are my go to blending sponges!) and a mini eraser sponge, which I think is going to be perfect for concealer under the eyes and around nose. The also got me the most stunning, purple tartan blanket, which is something I have wanted for a while now and my gran definitely knew that. The tartan design is stunning, and its fleecy on the underside which makes it so soft and cosy. I also got adorable red PJs, and some fluffy socks (I live in fluffy socks in this weather!).

From my other set of grandparents I got a new 2018 calendar for my wall, which I loved as I loved having a calender on my bedroom wall, as well as adorable french bulldog (my second favourite dog breed), PJs and the most comfy pink boot type slippers with clouds on them. I get PJs and slippers from them every year, and every year my gran nails it with he slippers. (The ones I got in 2015 were so good I had them until this year.)

I also got money from my parents and both sets of grandparents so that I could spend it on whatever I wanted, and a massive amount of candy with my presents and in my stockings.

As always I am insanely grateful for everything that I got for Christmas this year, and I love absolutely everything that I got.

I went shopping between Christmas and New Year to hit the sales and spend my Christmas money, as I got some incredible deals on what I bought. If you'd like to see a post on that then let me know and I can get a haul up on those purchases.

What did you get for Christmas 2017? What was your favourite gift you got?  How did you celebrate the holidays?
