2018 Blogging Goals - An Update

It's August already, how crazy is that? It feels like it was only a few weeks ago ringing in 2018, yet here we are, already more than halfway through the year! If you've been reading my blog for a while, then you'll remember that back in January I posted this post, called '2018 Blogging Goals'. In that post I talked about some of the goals I was setting for my blog this year, so I wanted to hop on here at the halfway-ish point to take a look at the progress!

A New Look

One of the things I wanted to work on this year was the look of my blog and my header and layout. I have been doing little bits with this goal, but not as much as I'd like quite yet. I've change my headers which I'm a lot happier with than the old one, so I liked that. I've also added a privacy policy page thanks to the GDPR regulation changes, and I've also added an Instagram widget to the bottom of my blog to add a little more visuals and social media activity.

I haven't change up my theme this year, but it something I am thinking about doing as I'd like it to be a little more visual and interactive. What I have now is nice, and it's very crisp and clean, but I've had it for a little while now, so I think that a makeover might be somewhere on the horizon!

Keep Updated

This was quite a big one for me this year because last year was one of the slowest posting schedules for me and I wasn't happy with it. Between a combination of being uninspired or too busy, I found that I was missing large chunks of time between posts, and I didn't want that to happen this year.

So far for this one, so good. I was absent in April as I had my to final assessments for university as well as my dissertation submission, and then I was a little quiet during June and July as I had my graduation, job interviews, blogger events and then applying for my Masters. But now I'm back, and I'll be back to posting more regularly once I get in to the swing of balancing my Master's workload with my blog!

Improve My Photography

This is one that I have definitely done on both my blog, and my social media. I have really been working on my photography and I think it has paid off. I've been working on my flatlays and playing around with colour schemes, and I love how the results have been turning out!

On top of my blog photography I've been really loving my Instagram photography lately, as I've been moving away from posting only flatlays, and instead to posting well edited shots of places I've been. It must be working as I've been smashing my Instagram goals this year!

This has been one I've been lucky enough to work on a lot this year, and as my blog has grown so has my changes for collaborations. I got to see the brand new Sesh Hairdressing salon when it re-opened in February, and back in March I worked with Odeon in Fort Kinnaird for the first time. I got to work with two of my favourite brands again, The Body Shop, for the launch of their new summer collection and St Enoch Centre for their summer blogger event to see the newest summer collections from some of the brands that are found in the shopping centre.

On top of that, I have more fun collaborations in the works right now, one of which is another collaboration with Go Ape, which readers of my blog know I did a review for them back in 2016 and it has been one of my all time favourite collaborations I've ever worked on. So all in all I would say this goal has been very proactive in the collaboration department, and I'm hoping that keeps ups!

Keeping Social

Keeping my social medias up to date has been an area where I've been doing a bit better, but it still needs work. I have really upped my Instagram game, that is one area where I have definitely improved. I've been posting daily on Instagram for months now and it has really been working for me. My numbers have gone up, so has my engagement and views.

In terms of Twitter, I've been doing okay with Twitter with keeping things up to date, and Facebook has been okay but not amazing. I've been sharing a few updates on my page as well as linking it to my Instagram so that when I post my photos they go on there.

Goals In Numbers

At the end of my last post I listed some of my goals in numbers so I though I would review those too!

New Posts Uploaded: Minimum of 50-60
Including this post, I've posted 26 posts so far so I'm doing pretty well considering I had a few slow months!

Brand Collaborations: 10
So far I've posted 5, and I have two more arranged to be up on my blog towards the end of this month/the beginning of next, so that's 7 so far!

Twitter Followers: 3,000 3,200
My original goal for Twitter was 3,000 but I hit that goal on  23rd of February, so now I'm working towards a new goal of 3,200!

Bloglovin' Followers: 700
So far so good with this one, I'm at 684, so I only have 16 left to go to hit this goal!

Instagram Followers: 400 500 700 800
Intsagram is one of my social medias that I am proudest of this year. Not only has my content and engagement improved so much this year, but my following has really increased! My original goal was 400 which I hit on the 30th of January just over 3 weeks after posting my goals post, so I upped it to 500 which hit on the 9th of February, then 700 which I hit on the 2nd of August! So now it's up to 800!

Facebook Likes: 300 350
This one has been a disappointing one for me this year. My goal was to hit 300 likes this year which I did on the 30th of January, so I upped it to 400. But I noticed recently that my likes have actually dropped now to 297. So I've put my goal down to 350.

So that's a little round up of my goal progress so far this year. I'm going to be continuing to work on these goals over the rest of 2018 to see if I can keep improving them and meeting the ones I haven't yet!

Keep up to date with hiyaitsashley!
