The Music Edit

Music is something that everyone in the world loves. It connects us all through feelings or through the love of a specific genre or artist, or even a movie or music! So with that in mind, in this post I wanted to share some of my top music picks in some different categories.

Songs For when...

You're Happy

You know that feeling when you're just feeling good and you need a cheesy little song to bop along to? Or you hear that one song and automatically get a little burst of happiness?

  • Happy - Pharrell Williams
  • I'm On My Way - The Proclaimers (I think this is one of the cheeriest songs around!)
  • I Gotta Feeling - Black Eyes Peas
  • Walking On Sunshine - Katrina and The Waves
  • Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go - Wham!

You're Sad

Sometimes when you're sad you just need to pretend your Adele and have a 'black and white music video, sat in front of a window while it rains' moment. I've got you covered!

  • Someone Like You - Adele
  • Make You Feel My Love - Adele
  • Stay With Me - Sam Smith (this song is so good it makes to feel like crying over someone even if you don't have someone!)
  • Complicated - Avril Lavigne
  • Fix You - Coldplay

You Need To Be Motivated/Pumped Up/Confident

We've all been there, has that moment where we feel deflated, unmotivated and unconfident, and these are my picks for songs that get you pumped up again.

  • Fight Song - Rachel Platton
  • Girl On Fire - Alicia Keys
  • Run The World (Girls) - BeyoncĂ©
  • BO$$ - Fifth Harmony
  • Eye Of The Tiger - Survivor (look I know it's a weird one for this category, but you can't tell me you don't get pumped up when you think of it?!)

You Want To Sing And Dance

This one does what it says on the tin, songs that make you want to sing and dance. I bet at least 1 of them is now stuck in your head.

  • Mambo No. 5 - Lou Bega
  • Dancing Queen - Abba
  • Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen
  • Don't Stop Believing - Journey
  • Footloose - Kenny Loggins (I don't trust people who dislike this song)

Hits From The Movies

These ones are ones I love that came specifically from movie soundtracks that aren't musical based, each a bop in its own right!

  • Skyfall - Adele, Skyfall
  • You Don't Own Me - G.Eazy remake, Suicide Squad
  • (I've Had) The Time Of My Life - Bill Medley & Jennifer Warnes, Dirty Dancing
  • Don't You (Forget About Me) - Simple Minds, The Breakfast Club
  • Back In Black - AC/DC, Iron Man (even if you're not into thu kind of music, we all did that little sassy Tony Stark walk when it comes on!)

Disney Hits

I'm a huge Disney fan and half of what makes Disney so iconic in the movie genre is it's music!

  • How Far I'll Go - Moana
  • Let It Go - Frozen
  • Zero To Hero - Hercules
  • Take As Old As Time - Beauty and The Beast (an icon, originally performed by another icon, Angela Lansbury)
  • I'll Make A Man Out Of You - Mulan

Some of the best of the best from famous musicals, and some of their songs that get stuck in your head even if you don't know of, or haven't seen the musical!

  • Defying Gravity - Wicked
  • Don't Rain On My Parade - Funny Girl (who doesn't love the overly dramatic nesture of this song?)

Music is something that I personally am very passionate about. I love how it has the ability to make you feel a whole bunch of different things depending on the situation, and how there’s so much variety in the music industry that regardless of what your tastes are, you're covered!

I also love musicals, so the fact that we’ve got access to all of these amazing movie and musical soundtracks at our fingertips is just incredible to me!

Do you like any of the songs on this list? What ones would you change? Do you prefer to buy your music, or to stream or on Apple Music/Spotify? Let me know in the comments!
